At Least One Person in Northern Colorado Claiming to Be With Poudre Valley REA

On October 19, 2026, Poudre Valley REA put out an alert about a person, not affiliated with the company, saying that they are. The person in the given situation was in an unmarked vehicle and approached a member of Poudre Valley REA, saying that they were with Poudre Valley REA. That person is/was not associated with the company that provides electricity to more than 55,000 homes in Northern Colorado.

The reported incident alert was directed to Poudre Valley REA members in the South Loveland and Campion area near South Taft Avenue. The suspected impersonator could have gone east along Highway 60 to Highway 287, or south along the Berthoud Parkway.

I inquired to Poudre Valley REA (PVREA) as to what, exactly, the perpetrator wanted from their potential victim, but they weren't able to say, as the potential victim didn't say, only that the person was approaching several homes in the area.

From PVREA:

We could only confirm that this individual was not associated with our organization and gave guidance as to how members can verify personnel who approach their properties by understanding our contractor identification policies and procedures.

For PVREA, safety is the cornerstone of everything we do. We do all we can to ensure the safety of our members and the community we serve, and that includes notifying our membership when individuals attempt to pose as authorized personnel. This practice is paramount to our continued safety-first mindset and the exceptional service we strive to provide.
