HWY 392 Interchange (Windsor Exit) Will Be Closed for 8 Days
Beginning tonight, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close Colorado Highway 392 (Main Street) over Interstate 25 for eight days.
Starting at 8 p.m. this evening (Nov. 14th) and continuing until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22nd, CDOT will completely close State Highway 392 over I-25 as well as all of the ramps. The frontage roads will remain open. The closure is part of the I-25/SH 392 interchange improvement project. During the closure, the following detour routes will be in place:
- SH 392 on the east side of I-25: Motorists will be detoured east to Larimer County Road 5 where they will travel north to Harmony Road or south to Crossroads Boulevard.
- SH 392 on the west side of I-25: Motorists will be detoured either west to Timberline Road (Larimer County Road 11) where they will travel north to Harmony Road or south on the Southwest Frontage Road to Crossroads Boulevard.
- Northbound I-25: Motorists on northbound I-25 needing access to SH 392 will exit at Crossroads Boulevard and follow the detour signs north to SH 392. If motorists miss the Crossroads Boulevard exit, they can take the Harmony Road exit and follow the detour signs south to SH 392.
- Southbound I-25: Motorists on southbound I-25 needing access to SH 392 will exit at Harmony Road and follow the detour signs south to SH 392. If motorists miss the Harmony Road exit, they can take the Crossroads Boulevard exit and follow the detour signs north to SH 392.
You'll probably be able to expect delays on all of the detour routes during the closure and CDOT suggest taking alternate routes if possible.
What is the -25/SH 392 interchange improvement project?
The Colorado Department of Transportation and its partners, the City of Fort Collins and the Town of Windsor, has begun an interchange improvement project at I-25 and State Highway 392. The $17.5 million project will replace the SH 392 bridge over I-25 with one that is wider to accommodate two lanes in each direction as well as a left-turn lane in each direction. There will also be a six-foot bike lane and a 6.5-foot sidewalk on each side of the bridge. The frontage road on the west side of the interchange will be realigned, and the ramps will be designed to accommodate more traffic. In addition, an expanded 90-space carpool/vanpool lot will be constructed in the southwest corner of the interchange.
