A suspicious package was found by a dumpster outside the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center, 701 8th St., and was reported by an employee at 6:15 a.m. Saturday.

The Tribune says there was no explosive device, but that police believe someone went to a lot of trouble to make sure the suspicious package looked like a bomb.
