Hot air balloon festivals in Colorado don't get more "hometown" than in Frederick, with their annual "Frederick in Flight" festival.

In 2011, Frederick came up with a great way to get their community together: A hot air balloon festival. Over 10 years later, the event is still going strong, bringing in Coloradans from well-outside of little Frederick.

Though a small town, Frederick is part of the set of towns that make up the Carbon Valley: Frederick, Erie, Firestone, Dacono, and Mead.

Three sisters named the town after their father Frederick Clark, back when the town was incorporated in 1907.  The towns' "Frederick In Flight" seems like an event those ladies would be proud of.
