Drake Road was temporarily closed yesterday due to a serious car accident, and Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) are now investigating.

The crash occurred around 2 p.m. on Monday (February 10), when a white Dodge truck collided with a red Toyota Prius at the intersection of Drake Road and Rigden Parkway.

According to a press release from the City of Fort Collins, the truck was driving east on Drake Road, while the sedan was driving north on Rigden Parkway.

As the truck was heading towards the intersection, the sedan turned left onto Drake Road. The front of the truck then hit the driver's side of the sedan.

The driver of the sedan, a 23-year-old Fort Collins woman, received serious injuries. Poudre Fire Authority removed her from her vehicle and took her to a nearby hospital.

The truck driver, a 24-year-old Fort Collins man, received minor injuries. Officials treated him at the scene.

Drake Road was closed for around 3 hours between Iowa Drive and Miles House Avenue so officers could investigate.

They are currently trying to determine whether or not speed was a factor, and if the sedan stopped at the stop sign.

Police do not believe that drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
