A 42-year-old registered sex offender was recently arrested by Fort Collins Police, after sexually assaulting a teen he met over the internet.

During their investigation, Fort Collins Police learned that 42-year-old Nathaniel Strauss initiated a conversation with the victim through a social meetup app. Strauss lied to the victim, saying he was only 28-years-old.

According to police, the two arranged to meet on several different occasions, during which they engaged in sexual activity.

Upon learning about the multiple interactions between the two, the victim's parent contacted police, sharing their concerns about the teen's involvement with an adult male.

The investigation also revealed that Strauss is a register sex offender in Colorado.

He was booked into the Larimer County Jail and now faces charges of Sexual Assault, Obscenity to a Minor, and Unlawful Sexual Contact.
