Fort Collins Police Arrest 16-Year-Old Suspect For July 5 Homicide
Fort Collins Police announced today, Aug. 19, that they have arrested a 16-year-old male suspect for the murder of a homicide that took place on July 5, 2021.
On July 5, Todd Stout was found under a bridge off Mason Street, deceased. Shortly after, the victim's death was officially ruled a homicide by the Larimer County Coroner.
Since the day Stout's body was discovered, detectives have been working diligently to gather further information. Fort Collins Police used digital forensic evidence that was crucial in providing insight into the murder.
Fort Collins Police officially arrested the male suspect on Aug. 17 at his home in Fort Collins. The suspect was arrested on a First Degree Murder charge, a class 1 felony, and was booked into the Platte Juvenile Detention Center, according to Fort Collins Police.
Police have not released the name of the suspect due to his age and protections around juvenile arrests. Police also have no cause to believe the suspect knew the victim prior to the incident.
Fort Collins police would like to remind the public that, at the time, these are simply just accusations. The suspect remains innocent until proven guilty.
