Want to hike some trails and get Rocky Mountain high?

Think again, or at least plan ahead because Estes Park voted 'no' to marijuana dispensaries.

In a statement sent to Westword, Estes Park citizens opposed cannabis dispensaries, the largest financial donor to oppose the measure.

In doing so, they have followed the recent lead of Loveland in rejecting the cannabis industry.

Estes Park has just over 6,300 people and is located East of Rocky Mountain National Park which brings in millions of tourists. Even if Estes Park had legalized the sale of cannabis, it would still be illegal to consume at Rocky Mountain National Park which is on Federal land.

According to Town Clerk, Jackie Williamson, 60% Of Estes Park voters cast ballots in this Election.

Westworld reported that in a Board of Trustees meeting last week, Williamson said, Sounds like it was a really high turnout to say “No, we don’t want Marijuana in our town. Find another venue to peddle your poison!”
