East Troublesome Fire Grew Over 100,000 Acres in 12 Hours
Burning just 11 miles from the Cameron Peak Fire, Grand County's East Troublesome fire expanded to over six times its size in 12 hours.
On Wednesday night the fire was burning at 19,000 acres, by Thursday morning it had reached 125,602 acres, according to the official report.
On Tuesday, at approximately 6:57 p.m., Grand Lake residents were rattled with a mandatory evacuation notice.
It looks like officials acted just in time as the area is now blazing out of control. The Grand County Sheriff told Fox 31 Denver that the fire is burning through 6,000 acres per hour.
This is a hard thing for me to hear as Grand Lake is the little nook of the mountains that we run away to. I was just at the beautiful Grand Lake Lodge for a long weekend during the fourth of July and now officials are unsure of whether or not it is still standing.
