Stealing $166,000 from your company is wrong. Depositing said money directly into your personal bank account is stupid. Spending thousands of stolen dollars playing Facebook games is downright insane.

A former administrative assistant for the Maine Trial Lawyers Association admitted in court this morning to embezzling $166,000 from the group, and a prosecutor said much of it was spent on online social-networking games.

Between January of 2009 and September 10, 2010 this woman apparently had 78 checks deposited directly to her personal account and paid out thousands of dollars from those fund  to YoVille and Mafia Wars (Two time-wasting games, mostly played on through Facebook).

I’m no criminal mastermind, but I would think that  stealing money by writing checks to yourself is probably not the smartest move. Seems like a pretty easy trail to follow.

And I question this woman's mental stability too…over $4,000 on Facebook games? I don't care where you get the money from, that ain't right!

If this 160K embezzlement scheme wasn’t enough, she also had a run in with the law 20 years ago. In 1991 she was convicted of theft by misapplication of property and theft by deception for taking over $2,000 from a school district.
