Despite the controversy, the Drag Queen Story Hour is coming to the Windsor-Severance Library in the Clearview Library District on Saturday, January 12 at 10:30 a.m.

At this special Story Hour, guests and Drag (Dressing as Another Gender) Queens will read and make crafts with children ages 2-8 and their parents/caregivers. The event is geared toward promoting inclusivity and diversity by allowing children to engage with individuals who dress or may express themselves outside expected gender norms in a safe space.

According to an announcement on the Clearview Library District website, Drag Queen Story Hour is considered to be an important resource to many members of the community, including those who identify as LBGTQIA+ and those who seek to eliminate bullying against those who identify in this manner.  The event is sponsored by SPLASH LGBTQIA+ Youth.

At a recent Clearview Library District Board meeting residents spoke out for and against the event. After the meeting, organizers decided the event was still important enough to continue despite the objections.
