DIA May See New $2 Million Art Piece
The city of Denver is seeking to buy it's single most expensive art purchase in it's history, a $2 million dollar sculpture by world renown artist Ned Kahn.
DIA is notorious for it's art pieces that are showcased inside and out of the 35,000 square foot property. Denver hopes to integrate this new piece of art inside the airport greeting passengers at the main terminal and the new transit station and hotel being constructed on the south side of the airport.
The piece DIA hopes to install is a "kinetic work animated by the wind and spread across thousands of square feet, is intended to enliven the experience of air passengers."
If Denver does score the $2 million dollar piece of art it will put Denver on a slim list of cities that display a piece of Kahn's artwork. California artist Ned Kahn is best known for his large, graceful and easy-to-like sculptures, often made of aluminum, that move without electrical power."
