Colorado Is One Of The More Expensive States For Road Trippers For This Summer

As a kid, we'd road trip a bit, but nothing too crazy. The farthest we ever road tripped was to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, to see a friend of my dad's. Besides that, we stayed pretty local to the Denver, Colorado area when hitting the road. As an adult, the furthest we've driven was to Las Vegas. I've made that drive twice and it wasn't my favorite. Two summers ago we took a trip to South Dakota to see Mt. Rushmore, which was so rad, and to be at one of my best friend's weddings. More tolerable of a drive than Vegas but way too much time in the car for me, especially with three kids, one of which was three at the time. Colorado has a lot to see and do so it's no wonder people want to drive around or drive here from out of state, but apparently, Colorado is one of the more pricey destinations for road trippers...

According to a study which was conducted by Gunther Motor Company, Colorado is one of the more expensive places for road-tripping families this summer. They based their findings on multiple factors including the state's most popular vehicle and miles per gallon on that particular ride. Also, average gas prices, road trip distances, and how much gas would be required for that trip. After all of that, they found that Colorado was the 7th most expensive state to road trip in.

The most popular vehicle in Colorado, and most states on this list, is a Ford F-150. They say that particular truck gets an average of 25 miles per gallon which sounds a little high to me because I drive a truck and it gets more like 13, if I'm lucky. And with gas prices averaging at about $4.92 in Colorado, we can see why Colorado road tripping is a little pricier in 2022. The most expensive state in this study was Arkansas with a gas average of $5.38 a gallon. The least Expensive state was New Hampshire.
