Colorado City Exceeds Snow Removal Budget of $1.3 Million
Winter hasn't even officially started, but Colorado Springs has already exceeded the city's snow removal budget by over $100,000 according to officials.
Officials said Monday that the city spent, in total, $1,425,000 so far this year.
The city's budget is based "typical" snowfall, but as we know the snowfall accumulation can vary significantly from year to year.
Officials balance the snow removal budget through cost savings in the overall city budget and other areas of the public works department, according to KRDO.
A lot of the snow removal budget is spent on things like sand and salt, according to KRDO.
