City of Fort Collins To Unveil Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations August 12, 2013
More and more electric vehicles are on our roads and Fort Collins will be unveiling their first public electrical vehicle charging stations with a ribbon-cutting ceremony next Monday, August 12th, 2013.
According to Fort Collins Utilities, the ceremony will happen at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery (408 Mason Ct.) on Monday from 3PM-3:45PM.
The city will actually be opening two charging stations:
- Fort Collins Museum of Discovery, 408 Mason Ct. – Open August 13
- Civic Center Parking Structure, 144 N. Mason St. – Open August 13
Both Level 2 and Level 3/DC quick charging services are offered by the City. All Level 2 charging stations are credit card operated and self-service. A Level 3/DC quick charger is available for use at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery during business hours.
You can read the Fort Collins Utilities page for more details about specifics on the charging stations.
I remember back when we saw the first hybrid cars on the road, now a few years later I’m pretty sure there are at least a handful of hybrids in just about every parking lot in town.
Seeing an all-electric vehicle is still a bit of a rarity, but I know I’ve seen a lot more of them lately and I’m guessing the more charging stations will mean more electric vehicles.
