City of Fort Collins Has Backup Water System Ready During Cameron Peak Fire
The City of Fort Collins is prepared for the worst when it comes to the Cameron Peak Fire.
In a Facebook post on September 16, the city's utilities Facebook page posted about their plan to provide safe, reliable drinking water to the city, even in the face of the destructive wildfires.
According to the post:
The ongoing drought and the possibility of poor water quality from the Cameron Peak Fire, means there may be times where we cannot intake water from the Poudre River. If this occurs, our backup system will be used.
Obviously, in the summertime, Coloradoans use more water than in the wintertime, and the City of Fort Collins wants us to reduce our water usage by the time of the Horsetooth Outlet Project this fall, where teams will upgrade the Soldier Canyon Dam outlet.
Beginning October 1, Fort Collins residents will have restrictions on lawn watering and other outdoor water usage. To learn more, click here.
