The Broncos threw many for a loop when they went DEFENSE with the 9th overall pick in the NFL Draft, but they got a dynamic playmaker in last year's SEC Defensive Player of the Year in Alabama cornerback, Patrick Surtain II.

Over the past several months, the talk around the Broncos and which quarterback they'll be selecting in the draft but instead, they went cornerback. Surtain is the son of former 3 time pro bowler Patrick Surtain who played several seasons in the NFL for the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs.

According to the Denver Broncos, they got their man. Current Broncos GM George Paton was very familiar with the Surtain family as he worked with Patrick Sr. when he was in Miami. Here's the moment Patrick Jr. got the official call from the Denver Broncos that he was being selected.
