If you know Northern Colorado and like sports, there's no way you haven't at least heard the name, Becky Hammon.

A former CSU Women's Basketball player, Hammon solidified herself in Colorado State Athletics history and continues to do so at the WNBA and NBA levels. Hammon will be recognized for her stardom today (Sept. 13) as the Las Vegas Aces hold a ceremony to hang her jersey in the rafters of Michelob ULTRA Arena.

Hammon played at Colorado State from 1996-1999. In her time in the green and gold, she is the most decorated women's basketball player in CSU history. She won Division player of the year for the conference three times in her four years, as well as freshman of the year in '96.

Hammon currently holds the school record for career points, season points (all four spots might I add), career points per game, season points per game, season made field goals, career made field goals and more.

In addition to her jersey retirement with the Aces today, Hammon's jersey currently hangs in the rafters of Moby Arena for the Rams.

For her career with the Aces, Hammon played for the organization when they were still in San Antonio. She spent the last eight seasons of her 16 seasons in the WNBA.

The Aces, when they were the Stars in San Antonio, actually retired Hammon's jersey back in 2016. Her number stayed retired even through the team's move to Las Vegas.

Besides just holding the top spots for records at CSU, Hammon also leads the Aces franchise in assists, made three-pointers, and free throw percentage, according to the release about the ceremony from the Aces.

As far as her other accolades, Hammon is also a six-time WNBA All-Star and four-time All-WNBA performer.

Currently, Hammon is a historic coach for the San Antonio Spurs, coaching under Greg Popovich as the first female full-time coach in NBA history. She also became the first female to serve as an NBA head coach during the regular season when Popovich was ejected during a Spurs game. Additionally, Hammon made history again as the first woman to serve as head coach during the NBA Summer League in 2015 where she lead the Spurs to a title.

The game tipped at 12 p.m. PT and the ceremony will take place at halftime.
