If you've been to Denver International Airport recently, you know there is a LOT of construction going on. Starting this Saturday, there will be some minor detours travelers should be aware of if they're going to the airport for holiday travel this year.

According to their press release, these detours will affect Terminal East passenger pick-up and drop-off areas. (Terminal East houses airlines such as; AirTran, Alaska Air, Delta, Frontier, Great Lakes, JetBlue, Southwest and Spirit Airlines.)

Beginning Saturday, Nov. 9, motorists picking up and dropping off passengers at Denver International Airport’s (DIA) Terminal East will notice minor changes to their routes as they leave the airport. Crews will implement the following slight detours for Levels 4 and 6 of DIA’s Terminal East to allow for the demolition and reconstruction of the elevated roadways that carry traffic exiting the east side of the terminal:

  • Level 4 (Arrivals): Drivers will encounter a minor detour through the garage and out to Peña Boulevard
  • Level 6 (Departures): Drivers will exit via a temporary ramp to the new Level 5 roadway exit
  • Level 5: Traffic will not change and will remain in its current configuration. The Level 5 bridge was demolished and reconstructed during a previous phase of work

These detours will be put into place starting at 11PM Friday night and will be in place for about one year. DIA encourages anyone traveling to check FlyDenver.com for the latest updates and construction impacts.

This info is probably good to know about before you go driving all over the airport trying to get to where you thought you were supposed to be. I think a lot of business travelers might know all the ins-and-outs of DIA already, but if you're like me, going to the airport is still a big deal, and I fell like I always take at least one wrong turn. (And that's when there is not construction going on.)
