If you've walked around Old Town (or various other parts of) Fort Collins, you've probably seen some of the decoratively painted pianos. Those are all part of a project called Pianos About Town and it is continuing for 2013.

Starting today, a different piano will be painted about every two weeks in Old Town to go on display for people to use and enjoy around town.

According to the City of Fort Collins Facebook Page, artist Ren Burke will start painting a piano in Old Town Square this afternoon.

Pianos About Town is a collaborative effort between the Fort Collins Art in Public Places Program and community partners Bohemian Foundation and Downtown Development Authority. This exciting project brings together visual art and music for the public to enjoy.

The City of Fort Collins website says that approximately every two weeks from May through October of 2013, new artists will paint a mural on a piano in Old Town Square and two more artists will paint at in indoor location during the winter months. After the pianos are painted they are placed in locations around Fort Collins for the public to enjoy.

You can help us extend the life of the pianos! If you enjoy playing the pianos, help us protect them by closing the keyboard cover after each use and using the attached tarp to cover the piano in times of rain and snow - Thank you!
