Old Town Square's pedestrian area is about to get a lot bigger. According to The Denver Channel, Old Town Fort Collins will undergo a $3 million 'makeover' to transform Linden Street into a 'convertible' street.

That means during festivals and events, Linden Street will be a continuation of how Old Town Square is currently south of Walnut; no through traffic for vehicles all the way up to where the Poudre River starts (north of Ginger and Baker).

However, unlike the existing Old Town Square, it will 'convert' back to a through street when events are not happening.

'The idea is to close the roadway to vehicular and bicycle traffic and transform it into a pedestrian gathering space during specialty events,' The Denver Channel reported.

Yes... this means a little less downtown parking, but a bigger space to enjoy live music and community events. The Denver Channel has more about the upcoming project.

Ditesco Services, an engineering and construction management company working on the project, is also working on The Foundry project in Loveland.

'Ditesco is proud to be providing engineering design services to help turn Linden Street into a 'convertible' roadway with the ability to transform into a pedestrian gathering space during specialty events,' they posted on Instagram, with a rendering of what the completed project will look like.
