There is a fast-moving fire burning 15 miles north of Steamboat Springs in Routt County. The North Routt Fire Protection District posted on their Facebook page last night that the Morgan Creek Fire has reached 2100 acres and is burning in a southeasterly direction.

At this time the City of Steamboat Springs is still very much open for business. Smoke has settled in the area. The Routt County Forest Service has been updating information on their website. Routt County residents can sign up for emergency alerts here.

Northern Colorado is still recovering from the long-burning Cameron Peak fire from last summer. The Cameron Peak Fire started in August 2020 and burned for nearly 4 months. Over 208,000 acres were scorched including 469 structures. The air quality was so poor, many were forced to stay inside.
