It’s been a long time coming, but the Foothills Mall (and its surrounding areas) in Fort Collins will finally get a makeover. Well, by the sounds of things, it will be less of a "makeover" and more of a bulldoze-everything-and-start-from-scratch kind of makeover.

The Coloradoan reports that the 77-acre property in central Fort Collins will be “scraped clean” before the new shopping center comes to life.

Nearly every square inch of retail and restaurant space surrounding the mall, including storefronts along College Avenue, will be leveled as redevelopment of the aging shopping center moves forward. That means the buildings housing the Corner Bakery, Talbots, Tres Margaritas, the former Mervyn’s department store, 93,000 square feet of the mall itself, as well as The Shops, The Plaza and The Commons at Foothills, all will be gone, clearing the slate for new retailers, restaurants, a movie theater, a grocery store and public gathering spots.

Many of us are waiting with great anticipation to find out what shops will go in the new retail center. The Coloradoan says the developer has already mentioned names like Trader Joe’s, Nordstrom Rack, Anthropologie, Dave & Buster’s and Williams-Sonoma, but no official announcements have been made about what tenants will be coming to the area.

So, that being said, what stores/businesses would you like to see in place of the Foothills Mall location? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

I used to work in the Foothills Mall (A year selling cell phones and 3 ½ years working at Hot Topic in the early 2000’s) and the mall was in dire need of renovation/demolition back then, so I’m glad to see something is finally happening with the location. I do feel bad for some of the businesses that may be forced to close or relocate (unwillingly), but hopefully it works out for the best and gives our town a vibrant centralized retail center.

So, what shops should open their doors in Central Fort Collins?
