Weld County Fossil Finds New Home at Denver Museum of Nature & Science
A Weld County triceratops fossil has found a new home at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
According to The Greeley Tribune, paleontologist Kenneth Carpenter discovered the complete fossil, nicknamed Pops, on a Weld County property in 1982.
After being on display in Greeley for nearly 40 years, Pops is now safely in the hands of the museum staff, who will work to study and restore the fossil.
The publication reports that Pops will stay in Denver for up to one year, before returning to the Weld County Administration Building.
Visitors to the museum will be able to see Pops, who is over 60 million years old, through a lab window in the Prehistoric Journey exhibit.
Those who can't make it in person can still get their fossil fix on social media by following @pops_the_triceratops, or by visiting DiscoverWeld.com.
