Was the Model for the Mona Lisa a Man?
The latest research claims that Da Vinci i used a model for the Mona Lisa. They state that it was his apprentice Gian Giacomo Caprotti. Capeotti worked as Da Vinci apprentice for 20 years and the reserchers claim was also his lover.Researchers in Italy state that Di Vinci used many influence for his woks.The Mona Lisa may have been a combination of both the long-rumored, Lisa Gherardini, the wife of a wealthy Florentine merchant, Francesco del Giocondo and Capeotti.
This painting has had so much research done on its origins its uncanny! What I find interesting is how Da Vinci was able to incorporate both female and male aspects into the painting. Then again considering that the times were different then, men and women's styles could have more similar and it might have not been that big of a stretch.I guess we may never really know who the famous woman/man behind the painting was .
