While Northern Colorado was celebrating Mother's Day on Sunday (May 8, 2016), the Larimer County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) was responding to a tragedy at Little Thompson River that took the lives of two children.

According to the Cololoradoan, authorities were contacted at approximately 12:20 p.m., after two brothers fell into the river near Pinewood Springs. The names and ages of the two boys have not been released; however, it is known that they were 10 years old and younger. When emergency response arrived on the scene, both boys were unresponsive, and all attempts to revive them were unsuccessful.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, and we will release additional information as it becomes available. The names of the two boys and the official cause of death is expected to be released by the Larimer County Coroner's Office.
