After a year off due to COVID-19, bikes and beer make their return to the streets of Fort Collins this summer for one of the town's favorite events: New Belgium Brewing's Tour de Fat.

Tour de Fat has been an annual New Belgium tradition since 1999, and Fort Collins loves to get in on the party named after the brewery's flagship ale, 'Fat Tire.' In a press release, New Belgium Brewing said that the 'longstanding tradition of bikes, beers and bemusement returns live this summer to continue support of bicycle advocacy and local nonprofit organizations.'

Needless to say, we really missed putting on our costumes together last year.

The event will kick off with the bike parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 28. The route will loop around Mountain Avenue and Sherwood Street. Afterwards, the brewery will host its on-site party into the evening.

'Attendees can expect a return of the classic entertainment and activations they have come to know and love,' New Belgium said.

New Belgium has grown to be the nation's fourth-largest craft brewery, not to mention one of Fort Collins' favorite breweries and local hangouts. It was founded in Fort Collins 30 years ago before expanding to Denver, Asheville, North Carolina and San Francisco, California. Known for Voodoo Ranger IPA, Sour IPA and La Folie Sour Brown Ale (in addition to Fat Tire Amber Ale), we're proud to have it right here in our backyard.
