I hate having to remember so many passwords and I hate having to change them, but it looks like I'll be changing them all again today. CNN is reporting that hackers have stolen the passwords and login credentials for nearly two-million accounts on Facebook, Google, Twitter, LinkedIn, Yahoo, and more.

Apparently hackers had been using keylogging software maliciously installed on thousands of computers around the world and had been stealing passwords and user names over the past month.

They discovered compromised credentials for 93,000 websites, including:

  • 318,000 Facebook accounts
  • 70,000 Gmail, Google+ and YouTube accounts
  • 60,000 Yahoo accounts
  • 22,000 Twitter accounts
  • 9,000 Odnoklassniki accounts (a Russian social network)
  • 8,000 ADP. accounts
  • 8,000 LinkedIn accounts

Now the scary part; they think there are still other servers out there stealing information and you can't just search for the malware on your computer as it would be hidden and running in the background.

They say your best bet is to change your passwords and make sure you have the latest antivirus software patches as well as patches for internet browsers, Adobe and Java.

Your best bet is to update your antivirus software and download the latest patches for Internet browsers, Adobe and Java.

What a pain, I have so many passwords I can barely remember them all, and now I need to go change them all.  Argh.
