Surfer Hit By Whale At Bondi Beach In Australia [VIDEO]
"How was your day at the beach?" "Well, a whale knocked me off of my surfboard..."
That's not a conversation I think I ever want to have, but that's just what happened to a surfer in Australia.
According to CNN, this happened at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia. A huge southern right whale popped up just off shore next to a group of surfers. (Those whales can weigh around 50 tons!) Awesome experience, right?
Well, it got not-so-awesome when the whale took a sharp right turn and took out a nearby surfer. Thankfully he suffered no serious injuries, but now he now has a whale-of-a-tale to tell his buddies.
One of the quotes in the CNN video is perfect.
I love Bondi. Just when you think you've seen everything, someone gets knocked off by a whale.
This story made me think back to my whirlwind trip to Australia in 2009. We made a stop at Bondi Beach, and it was one of the nicest beaches I think I've ever seen. Now I wanna go back. *Sigh*
