Storage Unit Burglars Run Our Of Gas Less Than 100 Yards Into Getaway

We have yet another failed getaway attempt for our Dumb Criminal today. (I think that’s 3-out-of-5 for the week.) This time the story comes to us from Texas, where two guys broke into a storage unit, loaded up their truck with the stuff inside and then ran out of gas less than 100 yards away.

According to Click 2 Houston, these two dimwits broke into the storage unit to steal some equipment, but hadn’t bothered to put any gas in their getaway truck. They ran out of gas in the middle of an intersection not even a block away from the storage unit and then decided to start knocking on people’s doors to see if they could borrow some gas.

Oh, it was also 3AM.

As you can guess, a few of the neighbors who were awakened by the fuel-needy duo called police.

When police showed up the men tried to explain the equipment in their gasless-truck, saying they had been mowing grass. Not a very good story.

Both of them were charged with burglary and police are trying to see if they might be connected to any more burglaries in the area.
