Sadly the unofficial end of summer is this weekend, Labor Day weekend. On a brighter note, most of us a get an extra day off, and there is a ton of fun stuff to do in the area. I am going to pack as many of these fun filled events into my Labor Day weekend as possible. Come join me!

The Block Party is a local community event in Greeley Friday night (Aug. 31st)  intended to celebrate the positive things going on near the UNC campus. The Block Party creates an environment that benefits the small businesses on Greeley’s 16th St., as well as the Greeley arts community. The Block Party introduces college students to the best of Greeley, and simply celebrates the city as a whole.

This year’s festival kicks off at 7 am, Saturday, September 1st with a Balloon Festival at Eastman Park (weather permitting), then feed your hunger with the Town Barbeque at Boardwalk Park, 100 N. 5th Street, beginning at 4:00 p.m. (All proceeds will benefit the After Prom Committee.) The Concert will follow the Barbeque at Boardwalk Park. The night will wrap up with a great Fireworks display over Windsor Lake. The activities will switch to Main Park on Sunday and Monday where there will be close to 200 Arts and Crafts and Commercial Booths as well as a great selection of Food Vendors. There will be great music and demonstrations coming from the Entertainment Stage in the park along with plenty of rides and games for the kids.

New Belgium Brewing’s cycling circus, Tour de Fat, is coming home to Ft. Collins for one day on Saturday, September 1 at Civic Center Park (Laporte Ave. and North Howes St.). Tour de Fat is a thrilling rite of passage that includes an unparalleled costumed bicycle parade, New Belgium beer, eccentric entertainment, local food, unusual bike contests and much more.

The Buff’s 123rd and the Ram’s 115th seasons of college football will kick off against each other on Saturday, September 1st at 2pm. Tickets are still available for the game and there are plenty of activities to make an entire weekend out of the Rocky Mountain Showdown.

More than 50 of Colorado’s favorite food establishments are gearing up to show off their dishes at the 29th annual A Taste of Colorado. Live music from national touring acts including the Spin Doctors, Lou Gramm, the Pointer Sisters, and G. Love & Special Sauce.
