Schools Ban Best Friends- Say “What!?”
Making best friends in school was and is great for kids in my opinion and now schools in Britain want to stop that in hopes kids don't get upset from fallout from losing a best friend? Its called a part of life. I am who I am today because of life lessons of making and losing best friends. The schools are trying to encourage the kids to play in larger groups, yeah cause that is always a great thing when people who have different view points get in a group.
Educational psychologist Gaynor Sbuttoni said;
I have noticed that teachers tell children they shouldn't have a best friend and that everyone should play together. They are doing it because they want to save the child the pain of splitting up from their best friend. But it is natural for some children to want a best friend. If they break up, they have to feel the pain because they're learning to deal with it."
I think this is a stupid idea but this is only my opinion. I think kids need that relationship with a best friend to learn about the hardships of relationships. Pain, as sad as it is, helps us grow.
What are your thoughts? Do kids need to play in bigger groups or should they be allowed to have that best friend?
