How many times do you need to tear some tape or open a package and the handiest tools around are your pearly whites? Heck, I do it all the time. But your dentist would probably cringe if he or she saw you opening a bottle with your teeth, loosening a knot with them or even chewing on ice.

Check out this top ten list I found of things people do to break their teeth.

  1. Chewing On Ice Cubes.
  2. Eating Frozen candy bars straight from the freezer.
  3. Cracking nuts.
  4. Opening the lids of pill bottles.
  5. Loosening knots.
  6. Opening those packages of pretzels and potato chips we can't pull open with our fingers.
  7. Chewing on pens.
  8. Chewing on pencils.
  9. Chewing on hard candy.
  10. Tightening guitar strings with your teeth.

(That list is rumored to have come from Boston University School of Dental Medicine.)

I can say I have done at least nine things on that list. I don’t think I was ever brave enough to change a guitar string with my teeth. (Try to play it with my teeth? Yes. Try to change it with them? No.) But really, chewing on ice?! Anyone who says they've never chewed on ice is a lair.

On the plus side I only do three to four of these things on any regular basis, that’s good…right? (Sorry Dr. Nelson!)

Have you ever broken a tooth doing any of these?

And get this, a Doctor says that we may be able to grow replacement teeth in the near future. Crazy!
