School Officials Toss Students’ Lunches in Trash Over Parents’ Unpaid Debts

Well this is stupid.

An elementary school in Utah took out and tossed out around 40 students lunches because their parents had outstanding balances on their account.

The nutrition specialist had reached out to the parents the day before and the day of and when they didn't hear anything back they decided to take action. They showed up to the school and took away lunches from the students and threw them in the trash.

Erica Lukes, the mother of an 11-year-old girl who had her lunch taken away from her was appalled. "It was pretty traumatic and humiliating," she said. "I think it’s despicable. These are young children that shouldn’t be punished or humiliated for something the parents obviously need to clear up."
