I don’t know if its just because I’m a sap now that I’m a mom, but when I read this story I legit got a little misty. The Coloradan’s First Class Scholars program has been honoring first-generation college students in NoCo for four years and counting.

They just awarded 12 new recipients.

With the financial support of local businesses, the program offers a mentorship program and up to three years of financial assistance.

As someone who’s still paying on student loans six years post college, I am so happy for these seniors and proud of them for applying in the first place. The program aims to instill a belief system in students that they are worthy and can do anything they set their mind to.

This year’s recipients will receive $2,000 toward their school of choice and another $1,000 is available if they enroll in one of the participating Colorado schools. Congratulations to the 2019 First Class Scholarship winners.
