Yet another economic casualty has claimed Schmidt's Bakery in Loveland. They have closed their doors indefinitely after the state seized the bakery for allegedly failing to pay their taxes. This news comes on the heels of Northern Colorado losing The Beach House Grill, The Armadillo, McCoy's Restaurant, and Grant Family Farms.

When will the madness end?!

According to the Loveland Reporter-Herald, the bakery/deli owes over $40,000 in unpaid taxes. They closed their doors yesterday and placed a sign in the window that reads, "SEIZED." This is not the first time Schmidt's has been seized either. This is the third time Schmidt's has been seized by the state in the past three years. Their 2010 and 2011 seizures were resolved in a matter of days and they re-opened. I'm wondering if that will be the case this time. I can only hope it will be.

I can't find any information about the seizure on Schmidt's website or their Facebook page.
