When these lazy, hazy days of summer roll around, there's only one thing I want to do: move. It seems like the easiest way to refresh my space after the season of Spring cleaning...I want new furniture, a new space, and a new outlook.

Thanks to Niche Design House, though, there's an easier way to refresh than to just pack up and leave. With these five tips inspired by Shannon Pavek, Niche Design House's Business Design Manager, your space will feel rejuvenated in no time.

    Paint a wall

Maybe one fresh pop of color is all you need to spice up your place, but if you're not sure what color to use, pull from what you have. "Take your favorite piece of art, fabric, dish— really anything— and pull color ideas from that item," Pavek said.

Add a throw blanket and pillows

To add texture and warmth, use these items to enhance the coziness of a living room or bedroom. Plus, if you're renting and can't paint a wall, this is the perfect way to add a pop of color. "Don't be afraid to get a little hands-y," Pavek encourages, "Pick them up, pet them and find that one that makes you want to hug it and it will make any room feel more inviting."

    Window treatments

Treat yourself to some window treatments! Look for a strong pattern for a bland room, or a light, drapey fabric for a dark room.

  • 4

    Add some greenery

You don't need to have a green thumb to add some life. Pavek recommends going to Target or Hobby Lobby for artificial arrangements: "Many retailers sell arrangements in varying sizes and types, ready to be put on your shelf or window sill."

Splurge on a focal point item

Whether it's a print you've had forever or an expensive painting, highlight it as a focal point for a space refresher. "Adding art can be anything from a collage on a pin board of photos from your last vacation to a print/poster, to a mirror to work of fine art," Pavek said. Make your space your own with whatever pieces you want to highlight.
