A 15-year-old boy from Boulder suffered numerous injuries in a fall on Saturday (June 27) at Rocky Mountain National Park.

A press release from the Estes Park national park said the boy suffered a sliding fall of about 300-400 feet in The Loft area between Mount Meeker and Longs Peak. The area is steep terrain that's currently covered by snow, water and rock.

The Rocky Mountain National Park Search and Rescue Team reached him at about 9 a.m. and started providing medical care.

A Colorado National Guard helicopter from Buckley Air Force Base flew in to help airlift the injured teenager at about 12:30 p.m.

He was initially taken to Upper Beaver Meadows and then transferred to an ambulance helicopter and flown to a Children’s Hospital for treatment.
