Ram Jam: Californian Corina Gamboa Pursuing Nursing
From Chino to Fort Collins, back to California? The grad student is back for the 2021 softball season, setting her sights on winning and nursing.
From Chino, California, Corina Gabmboa is back for the 2021 season playing 3rd Base for CSU Softball as well as continuing her education.
In the COVID-19-shortened season of 2020, Gamboa started at 3rd base in all 23 games that were played, with a .292 batting average with 21 hits:
- 9 doubles
- 2 home runs
- 13 RBIs
In her Junior season, Corina started 50 out of 51 games, garnering a .335 batting average with six home runs, two of which were Grand Slams. In that season she had a .930 fielding percentage including 95 assists and 38 putouts.
Gamboa was also Mountain West Academic All-Conference in 2017 through 2020.
The grad student is handling a second major at Colorado State: Health and Exercise Science, to help build her pre-requisites for nursing school which she hopes to pursue back home in California.
Corina talked with us about CSU Softball, Coach Fisher, her love of both California and Colorado (as well as Rhianna), and her next objectives in life.
