Project Self-Sufficiency Gets Single Parents the Help They Need
Being a parent is hard. Being a single parent is even harder. Thankfully, Project Self-Sufficiency is here to help.
Started in 1986, the non-profit works to assist low-income, single parents in their efforts to achieve economic independence while creating a strong and healthy family environment.
This can sound like a hefty goal, but Project Self-Sufficiency has the four stage plan to make it happen.
First, their advisors help clients discover the best career path for them, while securing immediate family needs such as housing, food, and healthcare.
Advisors then strengthen clients' career abilities by enrolling them in school, internships, or other training programs.
Once training is complete, advisors help clients find an actual job by working with them on resumes, cover letters, interview skills, and more.
After clients have secured a job, advisors continue to pave the path to self-sufficiency by providing them with the tools to manage their budget and independent life.
This program serves around 160 low-income families each year.
To hear actual stories from these families, you can attend the Bring the Power Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on March 12 at the Embassy Suites in Loveland.
Guests will gain inspiration from clients, and learn how they can help make an impact in the lives of single parents.
The luncheon is free to attend and open to everyone. Register here by tomorrow (March 5) to ensure seating.
