New Fire in Northern Colorado Prompts Evacuations

• Fire Size: 128 acres.
• Containment: 5%.
• Personnel: 320.
• Damage: One structure damaged.

Heavy winds on September 18 kept aerial assets grounded for the day.

Mother Nature has presented us with obstacles during this fire, from persistent high winds to difficult terrain...  ….Our wildland firefighters have been working incredibly hard to make progress. It’s physically demanding work, and they continue to rise to every challenge.

Though some mandatory evacuations were downgraded to voluntary, evacuations do remain.

In late July into August of 2024, the Alexander Mountain Fire in Colorado burned over 9,000 acres. In mid-September of 2024, a new fire in Northern Colorado prompted voluntary and mandatory evacations.

What began as a smaller wildfire at 3-4 acres quickly grew to over 200 acres by early afternoon on September 16, 2024, northeast of Fort Collins in the Red Feather Lakes area, north of Colorado Highway 14.

Named the "Pearl Fire," persons in the area of Crystal Lakes north of Black Mountain to the stateline, were ordered to evacuate immediately at 1:19 p.m. on September 16, 2024.

An update alert for the Pearl Fire sent at 1:02 p.m. on September 16, stated that Livermore Community Hall would be the evacuation center for the Pearl Fire, while multiple agencies were responding to the fire.
