I love movies that are animated like this! One of my all time favorite movies is 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' and this is along those lines of being creative and creepy at the same time. This movie follows Norman, a child who can see the dead and talk to them, and how he must save the town from the witches curse. I really enjoyed this film but the whole time I was watching it, I was thinking to myself, "this is not a kids movie." You would think it would be for kids considering it being an animation and being rated PG. It has quite a bit of adult humor, that kids wouldn't really pick up on. But, what makes this really not for kids is the intensity of it. Meaning, at some points it got really dark and the final sequence was kind of creepy and maybe more than a small child could handle. Theater employees told me that some parents had to take their kids out of the theater because they were too frightened.

Its not just a creepy movie though. It did have a good message. There was an underlying message about bullying and about how its ok to be different. Which is always nice.

Overall, I really enjoyed this film and if you are a fan of this style of animation or movies like 'Coraline' or 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' then this is a film for you.

I give this film 4 out of 5 ghost dogs

'ParaNorman' is rated PG for scary action and images, thematic elements, some rude humor and language.
