Panic! at the Disco Singer Brendon Urie Suing Former Roommate for Allegedly Robbing Him
Panic! at the Disco? More like Panic! at the Bank. Panic! frontman Brendon Urie is reportedly suing his former roommate, Shane Valdez, for stealing more than $125,000 from his personal bank account. Yikes.
According to TMZ, Urie lived with Valdez from 2008 to January 2010, and during that time period gave him access to his bank account in order to pay for living expenses. But it wasn't until November 2013 that the Panic! singer noticed that Valdez had made more than 70 unauthorized withdrawals, taking out a grand total of $127,269.54. That's a big chunk of change right there. (So big, in fact, that it kind of makes us wonder how Urie didn't notice -- but then again, thus is the life of a celeb.)
On the one hand, Valdez's lawyer claims that his client did take the money, but was using it for a documentary about the Panic! singer's life. Urie claims that he and his former friend never discussed anything of the sort.
Valdez (who has yet to see the lawsuit, TMZ claims), has reportedly told the site that the two were super close, and the claims are completely false.
"We were best friends for a long time," Valdez told TMZ, "and there is nothing about his claims that are true."
Well, it looks like that will be a matter for the court to decide.
