Old Town Fort Collins Is Enforcing Parking Again — Sorry
While the City of Fort Collins temporarily halted parking enforcement downtown during the COVID-19 crisis, it is now rescinding that order. So, here's what you should know about parking in Old Town.
On April 1, in an effort to support our small, local business owners, employees and those who visited Downtown Fort Collins to pick up food and shop at retail locations (when permitted) were allowed greater ease of parking, as the city temporarily suspended parking enforcement, mainly in timed parking spaces.
On June 25, the City said it has 'rescinded its order suspending enforcement of some parking violations as economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic continues,' but that doesn't necessarily mean they're going to come write you a ticket if your registration is expired.
'The City’s Parking Services department will continue to support the vitality of Downtown businesses, including use of the curbside pickup and designated outdoor dining areas within public parking stalls,' the City of Fort Collins said in a press release. 'Although enforcement of parking rules may resume, the City will take an educational approach for the time being.'
Basically, just be aware that parking enforcement downtown is back on duty, but the City has said that it is 'allowing the flexibility to serve community needs.'
