National Coming Out Day may have been on Monday (Oct. 11), but New Belgium Brewing isn't done celebrating.

The brewery has re-released Biere de Queer in support of the LGBTQ+ community. With an ABV of 6.6%, the purple ale contains notes of apricot, cinnamon, and honey — but that's not even the best part.

New Belgium will be sending the beer, along with the stories of LGBTQ+ community members, directly to Congress. The brewery hopes the gesture will inspire politicians to support the Equality Act, an unpassed law that 70% of Americans support.

"We brewed Biere de Queer to honor the stories of so many people who face a difficult time coming out," said Kelly McKnight, a brewer at New Belgium, in a press release. "I'm proud to be able to do what I love and fortunate to be able to bring my whole self to work, but so many others can't. The Equality Act would create a national standard that provides LGBTQ+ people explicit and equal protection against discrimination under federal law — the same protection as other Americans."

The public is invited to share their own stories or read others' at BrewedForAll.com. Find out how to try the beer for yourself here.

This isn't the first time that New Belgium has created a beer for a great cause. In July, the brewery released a golden kombucha sour to benefit wildfire relief.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
