Get the glow sticks and nighttime BBQ ready - the 33rd Annual National Night Out is being celebrated by residents of unincorporated Larimer County on Tuesday, August 2.

National Night Out, a community-building campaign run by the National Association of Town Watch, promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods better, safer places to live. The campaign serves to enhance the relationship between residents and law enforcement while "bringing back a true sense of community" through block parties, cookouts, flashlight walks, and youth programs.

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office will stop by some neighborhoods to interact with residents and share crime prevention tips. These events are inexpensive-yet-fun and effective ways for residents and law enforcement to interact while learning about crime and drug prevention.

Fort help on how to plan your National Night Out event, check out these tips provided by the LCSO.

If your neighborhood is interested in participating, contact Larimer County Sheriff's Auxiliary Unit Coordinator Barbara Bennet at 970-498-5159 or bennetbe@co.larimer.co.us.
