Man Faces Felony Charges For Releasing Balloons To Impress His Girlfriend

I really feel sorry for today's Dumb Criminal, it was just a guy trying to impress his girlfriend with some balloons. But his plan was to release balloons in an area where doing just that is illegal.

I'm thinking he needs to put a little more thought into his romantic gestures.

According to the Sun Sentinel, our 40-year-old guy brought a dozen heart-shaped mylar balloons and released them into the Florida air from a Motel 6 parking lot. (Maybe he should rethink where he tries to be romantic too.) Seems sweet enough, right?

Well, a state trooper saw the released balloons and it turns out that's a felony. A felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

The guy was charged with "polluting to harm humans, animals, plants, etc. under the Florida Air and Water Pollution Control Act."

For his sake, I hope at least his lady was impressed by the balloon show. I'm guessing he'll stick to chocolates and teddy bears from here on out.
