Local Businesses Step Up to Donate Goods

It’s been tough to find the silver lining in the big black clouds of the High Park Fire, which is now at 46,600 acres with 10+% containment. 1000 personnel are working the fire today.

Local businesses have opened their hearts and pocketbooks to donate supplies for the more than 100 evacuated horses now housed at the Ranch. I’ve received e-mails and FB posts asking me to thank them:

‘Murdoch’s in Longmont for making a HUGE (and I mean HUGE!) donation of supplies to the evacuees at The Ranch!’

‘Was able to get food donations for horses from Cache La Poudre feeds. Thank you so much for donating 10 bags to all the animals at The Ranch that really needed the food.’

I picked up feed for my horses at Bomgaars Tues. AM and got chatting with Nicole while I was paying for my purchase. When I mentioned the donations coming into the Ranch and she said they had sent over 2 pallets of feed and other essentials… THANK YOU!

Anyone with horses knows how expensive it is to keep them fed, they really eat a lot! If you know of other businesses that are helping, please let me know.

If you want to help, call Liz at (970) 619 4007 or Mary at (970)-619-4009… They are taking names and numbers for donations of hay and for volunteers. As I understand, there is plenty of donated hay, but they’re a little short of space to store it. If you need to have a horse picked up, please contact the Larimer County Sheriff’s Posse…at 227-1921 or James 691-4470.

I’ve received so many missives from folks who want to help. These numbers should allow you to roll up your sleeves and dig in. I personally ask that you keep me posted on your or your organization’s efforts. We all love to hear stories of hope. Some of the news coverage featured a video of a newborn alpaca at the Ranch and there was an expectant mare due to deliver any moment. Susan
