On the night of December 28th, 2014, Lance and his girlfriend, Anna Hansen, were returning home after a shindig in Aspen. Along the way, Lance struck two parked vehicles. So, since he’d been drinking, they decided that Anna would take the blame.

Even better- they told the man who’d rented one of the cars (whose house was nearby) that Anna was to blame; but they did not stay at the scene for police to arrive. Classic Lance…

Police eventually figured all of this out and Hansen admitted to covering for Lance; they issued Lance a citation on January 11th.

Hansen’s statement from USA Today:

We've had our family name smeared over every paper in the world in the last couple of years and honestly, I've got teenagers, I just wanted to protect my family," Hansen told police. "I thought, gosh, Anna Hansen hit some cars, it's not going to show up in the papers, but Lance Armstrong hit some cars, it's going to be a national story.

Armstrong’s original citation was for failure to report an accident and for speeding.

The case has now been settled, with him pleading guilty to reckless driving. He'll pay $150 fine and about $240 in court costs.

Armstrong’s attorney for the case was Pamela Mackey, the same lawyer that Kobe Bryant retained for his own infractions with the law while in Colorado.
