Sinus relief and a glorious nap. This is not my first time getting acupuncture, but this is the first time I wanted to share the experience. Let me start by saying that we are lucky enough to have an affordable source of acupuncture in Fort Collins with a neat place called CommUnity Acupuncture.  They have you pay on a sliding scale, making it possible to incorporate into your life, considering most insurance does not cover acupuncture. Boo! I have had many friends swear by the benefits of acupuncture for infertility and sleep issues.  Many people find relief of backaches, migraines and nausea. I went in seeking a chance to breathe. I'm super pregnant with twins and suffering from allergies, the combo is leaving me very short of breath and really congested.

This is a community setting, meaning, you're not in a private room, but your own comfy reclining chair with a room divider between you and other patients. Acupuncturist Brian Bush placed the needles on my face, ear and top of my head.  These needles are so tiny and you really hardly notice them. What you do notice is immediate flow of energy, a rush of warmth and connection.  Sounds kind of new age, I know, but it's hard to deny.  I could immediately breathe. Then like a lizard in the sun, the warmth encouraged sleep.  My closed eye visions were taken over by the color purple (I have no idea why) and the next thing I knew I was being woken up 30 minutes later so the needles could be removed.  Best nap I've had in years!!! But also some sinus relief!

I don't know if I believe acupuncture can cure everything, but I do know that was the best I've breathed in weeks and I was clearly very comfortable.
